NACE

I went to a super fun Sacramento NACE event last night held at the incredibly beautiful Vizcaya PavilionNACE is the National Association of Catering Executives and the members are anyone involved in the wedding & event industry.  We’re talking the best of the best in Sacramento when it comes to photographers, DJs, florists, catering, planners, wedding magazines, and so on and so on.   It’s always inspiring to be in the company of such top-notch professionals that we can all learn so much from…

Not only was it a great time to see old friends, make new ones, mingle and network, but we squeaked in a bit of education too.  We heard from  a panel of some amazing photographers, everything from what their most important role is on the wedding day (it’s not just standing back and snapping some pictures, that’s for sure!)  and how we (wedding vendors) can work together better to make the whole day seamless for the bride and groom.  And, really, that’ s what we’re all here for- to make the day stress-free, beautiful and memorable for the bride and groom (and their families, too!)

Check out the work of the amazing photographers on their panel.  They do incredible stuff and would be sure to capture your wedding or event beautifully…

LUXE

Oh how I love the Vizcaya Pavilion and Mansion!  It has just the right amount of old-world and antique charm mixed with beautiful renovations to make it a highly desirable place for weddings and events.  The mansion provides a beautiful backdrop in the heart of midtown complete with a stunning dining parlor perfect for rehearsal dinners, dinner parties or small corporate gatherings.

See your rehearsal dinner here…

A beautiful garden perfect for an outdoor ceremony is just outside the incredible pavilion.  It’s charming and grand, all in one.  Vizcaya, recently under new ownership {HERE}, is definitely taking customer service to a new level.  Dedicated wedding coordinators, preferred vendors and only the best high-class treatment is what you will expect when getting married at Vizcaya.  And, to go along with this service, Vizcaya recently hosted a Luxe Bridal Night for all their brides in 2012 and 2013.  They were able to walk the property in the evening to envision their wedding, sample delectable delights to start narrowing down their catering choices, see four table-scapes set up complete with flowers, candles, dinnerware and beautiful linens, as well as meet with Vizcaya’s preferred vendors.  Bloomers Floral Design was honored to have done the floral centerpieces for the table settings.

Summer Lovin’ Table

Fall into Love Table

Modern Pop Table

Modern, structured and contemporary.  Bold look of massing one type of flower, pops of color with the tangerine against the white and teal

Enchanted Table

Crystals, hanging votives, beautiful lilac roses, orchids & hydrangea.  What’s not to love about this….

All in all, it was a wonderful night of fun, food and music where the brides left feeling taken care of, loved and overly ecstatic for their upcoming wedding!

DREAMIN’ OF SPRING

If you live in Sacramento, I’m sure you’re like me and have a severe case of spring fever.  As I write this, I’m sure it’s going to pour rain any day now, but as it stands now, it’s sunny, a little balmy and unseasonable warm.  Nothin’ like a little early sunshine to make me want to do some spring cleaning, freshening up of my house and certainly add some color to my wardrobe.  Lucky for me, bright and bold colors are in for this spring, and I’m sure I’ll be following that trend!

I love using fashion as inspiration for new and interesting floral arrangements.  See what’s inspiring me…

I HEART VALENTINES

Whew… what a day!  As one of my amazing clients put it, Valentine’s Day is our Super Bowl.  As Bloomers’ first Valentine’s Day, I think I would agree with that.  Loads of preparation, lots of practice and a little nervousness all leading up to the big day.  Minus the highly sought after commercials and the day filled with overindulgence in chili cheese dip and beer, this is definitely the Super Bowl!  And, it was a great party…..

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all my wonderful clients who ordered flowers for their honey this Valentines.  I had a blast designing some beautiful arrangements.  I hope Bloomers made you look good:)

A few snaps of some of the creations.. some not the best quality (that’s what I get for taking them on my iphone)

Much love to you all….

Bloom to Life,

Kimberly

BEAUTIFUL VIZCAYA

Vizcaya Pavilion and Mansion in midtown Sacramento is a stunning venue, rich with amazing architecture, lush gardens and seriously the most incredible team to work with!  Bloomers Floral Design has been selected as one of their preferred vendors for floral design and I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with their incredible staff & dedicated owners on upcoming weddings & events.  They are energetic and full of great ideas to make your wedding shine!  They are also working tirelessly to do renovations & upgrades throughout the event pavilion and mansion.  The venue was stunning before, and it’s getting even more and more beautiful by the day.

Yesterday, Vizcaya hosted an open house for their 2012 brides & grooms, as well as newly engaged couples on the hunt for their perfect venue.  It was such a fun day, meeting wonderful couples and chatting about all things “wedding”!  Bloomers designed the florals and some decor for a rustic, vintage table.  I created a pedestal centerpiece in vintage milk glass and gave it some height on vintage books covered in burlap.  The centerpiece was flanked by mason jars filled with coordinating flowers, a vintage wooden number (for the table number), and rustic looking willow woven balls.  The idea was to showcase various tabletops full of wonderful details to help the couples spark their creativity and see what spoke to them.  It was a blast!  Check out a few pics from the table Bloomers did…

Vizcaya is a dream location for a wedding offering a romantic setting yet with a midtown feel.  {Click Here} to check out their website and packages… trust me, you won’t be disappointed!!

GOOD DAY SACRAMENTO!

What a blast!  This morning was so fun… waking early & prepping flowers, all to get ready for a segment on Good Day Sacramento!  This show is so energetic that I knew we’d be a good fit!  I had the pleasure of working with Julissa Ortiz, a Sacramento native and seriously the most fun, outgoing gal around:)  I hope you had a chance to see the segment… or if not, click below to check it out!

BLOOMERS FLORAL DESIGN ON GOOD DAY SACRAMENTO,  then scroll to the segment “Crazy About Flowers” With Valentine’s Day coming up, I put together an arrangement to celebrate the holiday.  This would be a beautiful arrangement to have around the house (brighten things up as it’s just about the get really wet and cold outside!), or to use as a Valentine’s Day dinner table centerpiece.

One thing that I LOVE using is unexpected containers for flower arrangements.  Search around your house for unique vessels that you can put flowers in.  Look through flea markets & antique stores for items that are beautiful… it makes the arrangement that much more interesting.  For this arrangement I used a vintage milk glass container that was originally my great-grandmothers and used to serve food for a fancy dinner.

Here are a few tips to put together a beautiful arrangement:

  • Put a soaked piece of floral foam in the container to act as the water source
  • Add the greenery all around edge of the container and a few pieces in the middle and top
  • Put in your largest flowers first.  Odd numbers look best, so use groupings of 3′s and 5′s.
  • Use groupings of 3 roses and place around the container.  Grouping the roses together provides more of  a statement and showcases these beautiful flowers.
  • Take 5-7 stems of a berry, scatter throughout the arrangement
  • Add a few stems of the off-white stock to give the arrangement height and dimension
  • Take a few last stems of the greenery and add in on top and any small spaces
  • It’s best to do the arrangement at eye-level so you can see it from all sides and be sure to not leave any spaces open.

And, here’s a list of the flowers I used to create this arrangement:

  • 1 Bunch Dusty Miller
  • 3 Stems White Hydrangea
  • 3 Stems Ornamental White & Green Kale
  • 9 Stems Pink Finesse roses
  • 5 Stems White Hypericum berries
  • 3 Stems of off-white Stock

Check out the finished product….

Happy creating!  Don’t forget Valentine’s Day is coming up… what you are doing for your sweetie??

Bloom to Life….
